Tulum, Mexico I at least have to be a beach bum once in my trip.This is the day.Heike, Liana and I decided our plan for the day over a complimentary breakfast of French Toast (thought I’d try this one amongst a few options). We caught the complimentary 9AM bus to the beach. From the stop, it was a couple hundred meters to the ruins. We had to pay a M$50 entrance – I suppose it’s a standard for all the Mexican anthropological sites. Not really very impressive, although it is the only ruin by the sea. It’s fairly small compared to the ones I’ve already seen, Palenque and Monte Alban. We only spent an hour or so looking about. There hoardes of tourists, in groups!From there, we went to the nearby beach and stayed there the whole day. The return bus wasn’t back till 5PM.The beach is picturesque with fine cream sand, turquoise and blue water on the horizon, and not many people. Liana and I took a boat to the reef and snorkeled. Cost M$150. Nothing really exciting. I saw three different types of schools of fishes. The corals were badly bleached. That was pretty much it. We did have a good view of the ruins from the ocean. We were all very hungry and had an early dinner straight away upon returning to town. Tried salbutes.
